Fablehaven Author Visits North Point!

Really fuzzy picture of Brandon Mull. Sorry!

Okay, I did use a flash. Brandon called up three students to take part in an imagination game. Sage is the one in the middle--not that you can see him.

Brandon Mull came and presented a fabulous assembly for the whole school. Two kids in our class scored some free stuff. Sage got a signed poster for the new book. *FYI the fifth and final book in the Fablehaven series comes out on March 23. Save your money and buy it at Costco. That is where I always go on the first day for a new release of a book that I really want and don't want to pay full price at the bookstore. Sometimes they sell out the first day though and then you either pay more somewhere else or wait for a new shipment. Madeline also got a free t-shirt that Brandon Mull signed. Cool!

The best story with the t-shirt is that Brandon Mull asked all the students at the end of the assembly who has a birthday on June 21. (It's an important date in the book.) Madeline in our class stood up and two other kids. (I think one was a first grader and one was a second grader.) He only had one t-shirt to give, so he had them pick a number between 1 and 10. Here's how it went:

Brandon: Pick a number between one and ten.

(He points to the second grader.)

Second Grader: Twelve!

(Then he points to Madeline.)

Madeline: Eight!

(Then he points to the first grader.)

First Grader: Eleven

Brandon: The number was seven, so she got it. (Pointing at Madeline.)

All the older students were snickering. So were the teachers.

P.S. I was able to see Brandon Mull at another school two years ago.
Here's an un-fuzzy picture of him.

We love you Mrs.Herrmann! You are the coolest teacher in the world. I wonder if Brandon Mull knows he's getting his picture taken with the greatest teacher ever! :)
Love Megan
